Every month I will highlight 5 photography blogs that you really should be reading on a regular basis, if you’re serious about trying to improve your skills as a photographer.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of blogs on the inter-webs dealing with just-about every aspect of photography. Every one of them brings something different to the community. Some offer tips and guidance, others provide inspiration and help generate ideas and projects for your own photography, still others just provide a wide array of stunning images.

In this series of posts, I will not only list 5 great photography blogs, but also a link to a recent post that highlights the quality of the content.

The first in the list is a blog that all budding photographers should have in their RSS feed.

The Digital Photography School.

This is a great all-round site for photographers, with not only tips, tutorials and guidance, but also information on new equipment, post-production techniques, and also, a buzzing photography community with weekly assignments and competions.

As it’s nearing the end of October, and Halloween, I thought this post by Darren Rowse would be appropriate. It’s entitled ‘Halloween Photography Tips‘.

This next blog is;

DIY Photography.

DIY Photogrpahy

As you can probably tell from the site’s name, it is dedicated to providing not only regular hints and tips, but also, simple and in-expensive ways to create the sort of images you would normally associate with expensive equipment and accessories.

My chosen post form this site is entitled; ‘Flash mounted, homemade DIY softbox‘.

Next is a photography blog devoted to keeping abreast of the latest equipment and techniques, as well as passing on hints and tips to help increase your photography skills.

Your Photo Tips.

This blog also has two sections that you should really check-out; ‘Wordless Wednesday‘, as you’d guess, a photograph is posted with no accompanying text, and you leave a comment. Also, ‘Photography Links Weekly Round-up‘. This section ‘does exactly what it says on the tin’ – A brief overview of some of the weeks photography links.

Forth in the list is an informative guide with hints, tips and how-tos covering several areas of photography.

Amateur Snapper.

Don’t be put off by the seemingly low number of articles on this site, look around and you’ll find some great nuggets of information! Definately worth the space in your Bookmarks menu! 🙂

And lastly, if you still have questions after that, take a look at the fifth site in the list;

Talk Photography.

If you have a question about anything to do with photography; everything from preparing for a shoot, to post-processing the resulting images, you’ll find the answer here!
